Mental Health Day on the Hill 2024

Mental Health Day on the Hill is fast approaching! This will take place on March 7th, 2024. NAMI has arranged for transportation from several locations throughout Minnesota to help get people to the Capital to rally and meet with legislators. No pressure, people generally meet in groups and your presence is valuable even if you are not comfortable talking directly with the legislators. The day will kick off with a Welcome and Briefing at 9:30, and rally in the rotunda starting at 11am. NAMI is requesting that people register for the event ASAP, with a deadline of February 11th. See links below for additional information and registration.

From NAMI We are so excited you are interested in joining us at the Mental Health Day on the Hill on March 7th, 2024 in Saint Paul. Our theme this year is Spotlight Mental Health. There’s been a lot of talk lately about the importance of mental health. If legislators truly prioritize mental health let’s keep the light on mental health related legislation and infrastructure throughout the session!

A welcome and policy briefing will be held on Thursday, March 7th at 9:30 AM at Christ on Capitol Hill Church (near the Capitol), where you’ll hear an overview of current mental health policy and funding issues. Then, at 11AM we will hold a rally in the rotunda, where you’ll hear from legislators and advocates and make your voice heard!

You will also have a chance to meet with your legislators and share why mental health is important to you. Please sign up in advance so we can help you schedule an appointment. Never met with your legislator before? No worries! We’ll help you set up the appointment and train you on current issues.

This sign-up form is due by February 11th, 2024. If you don’t submit it by then, we still welcome you to attend! There will likely still be room for you on a bus if you need it, but we cannot guarantee that we can provide you with transportation to the Capitol or arrange a meeting with your representatives if you sign up after Feb. 11. There will still be many ways to advocate for a mental healthcare system. Please sign up anyway and Sarah will call and email you if the bus has already been filled and you will need to arrange separate transportation.
