
Minnesota Department of Human Services’ (DHS) Behavioral Health Administration announces the upcoming free training “MN Diagnostic Assessment Updates 2023-2025: Incorporating assessment of substance use, including commercial tobacco” hosted by the Lung Mind Alliance. Presenters include DHS staff and a community mental health provider.
Purpose: This training updates mental health providers on changes to diagnostic assessment requirements in Minnesota Statute 245I.10 since 2023. The session will highlight substance use assessment components and reinforce the importance of screening for tobacco use disorders.
In the second half, a community mental health provider with expertise in commercial tobacco and nicotine assessment and treatment will share practical strategies and best practices for integrating tobacco/nicotine assessment into clinical practice.
Who Should Participate: Mental health professionals or clinical trainees who complete diagnostic assessments for members of Minnesota Health Care Programs.
When: February 11, 2026, from 12 – 1:15 p.m.
