Suicide Prevention Awareness Month — Find Support That Fits You

Week 2: Find Support That Fits You:

When your mental health feels off, the “right” help is the help you’ll actually use. Hope and healing come in many forms—peer support, trusted people, classes, helplines, and clinical care. Sharing what’s available in Minnesota reduces stigma and makes it easier to take the next step.

Start where you are

  • Talk to someone you trust. A friend, family member, primary care provider, spiritual leader, coach, or mentor can help you sort options and take the first step.
  • You’re not alone. Peer support connects you with people who’ve been there. It’s judgment-free and available statewide.

Peer support options (Minnesota)

  • Minnesota Warmline (Mental Health Minnesota) — 7 days/week, 9 AM–9 PM.
Call 651-288-0400 (toll-free 855-WARMLINE), or text “Support” to 85511. Peer specialists listen, support, and connect you to resources. Mental Health Minnesota
  • Peer Support Connection Warmline (Wellness in the Woods)5 PM–9 AM, 7 days/week (overnight support).
    Call 1-844-739-6369. Confidential, one-to-one peer support. mnwitw.org
  • Virtual Peer Support Network (Wellness in the Woods) — Daily small-group support on Zoom, typically 9 AM–5 PM. mnwitw.org

Not sure what to do? Call for guidance

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — Call or text 988, or chat online. 24/7, free, confidential help for you or someone you’re supporting. 988 Lifeline+1
  • United Way 211 (Minnesota) — Dial 2-1-1 for 24/7 help finding local services (mental health, housing, food, transportation, and more). United Way 211

Professional care: how to get started

  • Ask for referrals from people you trust (friends, family, primary care, clergy).
  • Use Minnesota’s provider finder: FastTrackerMN.org shows real-time availability for mental health and substance-use services statewide. Filter by location, specialty, and more. FastTrackerMN+1
  • Check your insurance card. Call the number on the back to see in-network providers and covered services (FastTracker can also help you filter by plan). FastTrackerMN
  • Learn and build skills with NAMI Minnesota. Free classes (virtual & in-person) for individuals, families, workplaces, and communities. NAMI Minnesota

This week’s action

  1. Save 988 and 2-1-1 in your phone.
  2. Share this email with three people.
  3. Pick one option above (a class, a warmline, or a provider search) and try it.

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 911.
Thank you for helping make our community a place where it’s okay to ask for help—and easy to find it.
