Training and objectives:

  • Differentiate between various psychotic symptoms, e.g., hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking.
  • Use effective communication skills to build rapport with clients experiencing psychosis. Identify and describe core Illness Self-Management approaches to help clients cope with the symptoms of psychosis.

Training goals:

  • Enhance clinical confidence. Clinicians will feel more equipped to remain present and effective when a client presents with psychosis.
  • Bridge theory and practice. Participants will move beyond “knowing” what psychosis is to “knowing how to respond” using accessible, real world strategies.
  • Build applied competency. Participants will feel confident to practice at least one specific Illness Self-Management strategy collaboratively with a client.
